Our mandate is:
  • To manage and control public finances in a prudent and sustainable manner.
  • To ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all public spending, and
  • To oversee the planning of national strategic development initiatives in order to facilitate economic growth, efficiency, stability, eradication of poverty and enhancement of overall development.
We recognize that all stakeholders in the Ugandan budget process have a right to participate constructively in that process, and to know how and why our country's money is being spent.

Each of us plays a role, however large or small, in ensuring accountability and good governance.
