Technical Officer (Quantitative Policy Analysis and Poverty Monitoring) |

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) has received funding from DFID (UK), under the Evidence-Based Decision Making Project - Phase II, to support activities of the Economic Development Policy and Research Department (EDP&RD). The MFPED plans to utilise some of the funding to recruit a technical officer with the following competencies: Technical Officer (Quantitative Policy Analysis and Poverty Monitoring) The Technical officer (Quantitative Policy Analysis and Poverty Monitoring) will be responsible for:
- Undertaking economic and socio-economic analysis of the National Household Surveys.
- Evaluating the economic impact of recent Government policies and programmes.
- Building the capacity of Ministry staff members in econometric techniques and other methods of quantitative analysis and research.
- Designing and implementing appropriate tools for data collection, analysis and utilisation in the policy-formulation process.
- Advising on Uganda's overall development strategy approach.
The minimum requirements for this position include:
A Masters degree in economics, a PhD will be an added advantage.
Quantitative data analysis skills.
Analytical skills in socio-economic dimensions of poverty reduction.
Strong competence in modern econometric techniques.
Functional literacy in MS Office applications.
At least 3 years relevant work experience in economic and policy research. Publications in refereed journals will be an added advantage.
