Finance Minister Kasaija Meets ABSA Group CEO Kenny Fihla

FINANCE MINISTER KASAIJA MEETS ABSA GROUP CEO KENNY FIHLA

Finance Minister Matia Kasaija has met the new Absa Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kenny Fihla who called on him at his office in Kampala as part of his strategic East Africa roadshow.

Kasaija welcomed the Absa Group CEO to Uganda and assured him of the conducive investment climate in the country.

The meeting focused on exploring deeper collaborationbetween Absa Group and the Government of Uganda in itseconomic transformation agenda.

Mr. Fihla reaffirmed Absa’s confidence in Uganda’s economic prospects and expressed the Group’s readiness to increase its support to priority sectors including infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism, and ICT.

“Uganda is a country of immense potential, and we are proud to be part of its growth journey,” said Mr. Fihla. “This visit reaffirms Absa’s long-standing commitment to our clients, communities, and stakeholders in Uganda. We are here to listen, learn, and ensure our strategy remains responsive to national priorities,” he added.

Uganda’s macroeconomic outlook remains positive, with GDP growth projection of 7.0 percent in FY 2025/26 compared to6.3 percent in FY 2024/25.

The Uganda engagement formed part of Mr. Fihla’s broader East Africa roadshow, which includes visits to Uganda and Tanzania, aimed at strengthening relationships with governments, clients, and other stakeholders across the region.
