Musasizi Calls for Digital Transformation at Enterprise Uganda

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Henry Musasizi, together with the Minister of State for Planning, Hon. Amos Lugoloobi, challenged Enterprise Uganda to leverage digital platforms to expand its reach and ensure that more Ugandans benefit from entrepreneurship development and business support services.

The Board and Management of Enterprise Uganda, led by Board Chairperson Mr. Richard Byarugaba and Executive Director Mr. Charles Ocici, discussed Enterprise Uganda's contribution to entrepreneurship development and its strategic role in advancing Uganda's private sector-led growth agenda.

Enterprise Uganda, established 25 years ago with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is Uganda's leading institution for entrepreneurship development and Business Development Services (BDS). As the Centre of Excellence for Business Development Services under NDP III.

Charles noted that enterprise Uganda empowered thousands of entrepreneurs through business training, advisory services, digital innovation, business incubation, and export readiness programmes. Its work has strengthened household incomes, created employment opportunities, and supported key government initiatives, including the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other national wealth creation programmes.

Hon. Musasizi commended Enterprise Uganda for its outstanding contribution to private sector development and recognized the Board's commitment to strong corporate governance and professional leadership.

He emphasized the need for Enterprise Uganda to leverage digital technologies to expand entrepreneurship services, deepen post-training mentorship, and provide continuous business support that enables entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises.

He further encouraged the institution to align its programmes with national priorities on job creation, industrialization, export promotion, financial inclusion, and household income growth.

Hon. Amos Lugoloobi called for stronger monitoring, evaluation, and transparent reporting to demonstrate Enterprise Uganda's impact and attract greater public and private sector investment.

Lugoloobi also recommended integrating entrepreneurship education into secondary schools, universities, and tertiary institutions to equip young people with practical business skills, while proposing orientation programmes for newly elected Members of Parliament on financial management, investment, and wealth creation.

Enterprise Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Uganda's enterprise development agenda through quality Business Development Services, entrepreneurship training, digital innovation, and export promotion.

The Executive Director, requested the Ministry's continued partnership in scaling Business Development Services nationwide, institutionalizing the National Business Development Services Framework across government programmes, and investing in sustained entrepreneur outreach and digital service delivery.

The Ministers reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting Enterprise Uganda as a strategic implementation partner in promoting entrepreneurship, enterprise growth, and inclusive economic transformation. Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration through joint planning, resource mobilization, and performance monitoring to expand enterprise development, create jobs, increase exports, and contribute to Uganda's long-term socio-economic development.
